How to Use

1. Set the Minimum value (the lowest number that can be generated, inclusive).

2. Set the Maximum value (the highest number that can be generated, inclusive).

3. Click Generate to get a random number in that range.

4. Click again to generate another number. Your last 8 results are shown in the history below.

Tip: To simulate a dice roll, set min to 1 and max to 6. For a coin flip, set 1 to 2.

How It Works

This tool uses JavaScript's Math.random() function to generate pseudo-random numbers. It produces a uniformly distributed random integer within your specified range, meaning every number has an equal chance of being selected.

Formula: Result = Math.floor(Math.random() × (max − min + 1)) + min. The +1 ensures that the maximum value is included in the possible results.

Pseudo-random number generators (PRNGs) are deterministic algorithms that produce sequences of numbers that appear random. They are suitable for games, simulations, sampling, and casual decision-making, but not for cryptographic security purposes.

Common uses include: dice and board games, lottery number picking, statistical sampling, shuffling playlists, random team assignments, and decision-making when you can't choose.
