Fuel Cost Calculator
Estimate the total fuel cost for any trip. Enter your trip distance, vehicle fuel consumption, and current fuel price to get an instant estimate.
How to Use
1. Enter the Trip Distance in kilometres.
2. Enter your vehicle's Fuel Consumption in litres per 100 km (L/100km). This is usually found in your car's manual or on the fuel economy sticker.
3. Enter the current Fuel Price per litre in your local currency.
4. The calculator shows total litres needed and total estimated fuel cost.
Typical fuel consumption: small cars 5–7 L/100km, mid-size cars 7–10 L/100km, large SUVs 10–15 L/100km.
How It Works
Fuel cost estimation is a practical tool for trip planning and budgeting. The calculation multiplies your trip distance by your vehicle's fuel efficiency to determine how many litres of fuel you'll need, then multiplies by the fuel price per litre.
Fuel Needed Formula: Fuel (L) = (Distance × Consumption per 100 km) / 100. Example: 500 km trip in a car using 8 L/100km = (500 × 8) / 100 = 40 litres.
Total Cost Formula: Total Cost = Fuel Needed × Price per Litre. At $1.60/L: 40 × $1.60 = $64.00.
Remember that actual fuel consumption varies with driving speed, road conditions, traffic, air conditioning use, and vehicle load. This calculator provides an estimate based on your input values.
